Brief

Over the past decade, I’ve collaborated with nerdcore rapper Mega Ran on creative projects like cover art, cassette tapes, and music videos. For his latest single, he asked for a small promo video to use on social media. I developed quick storyboards and previs renders, then refined them into a short reel. Over a few weeks, I sourced assets, animated scenes, and edited the final promo. The video received great feedback online and was a rewarding way to contribute to the project.

Initial Character Designs

The original concept for the music video featured Mega Ran and G. Love (who is featured on the single) as beachgoers and 80s-style wrestling action figures. The main character, a young boy, would play with these figurines and eventually lose them early in the video. The figurines would then come to life and embark on an adventure full of mishaps and visual lyrical nods across the boardwalk, ultimately finding their way back to the boy. Initially, I envisioned the music video to appear rendered in a needle-felt style, giving the music video a cute and sentimental visual quality.
